Program
The conference program brought together scholars from across the humanities, sciences, and arts for four days of panels, keynotes, and interdisciplinary exchange at Stockholm University's Frescati Campus.
Book of Abstracts
The Book of Abstracts collected summaries of all accepted papers and streams presented during the conference, offering a comprehensive overview of the scholarly contributions to the theme of Control.
Control Experiment
A distinctive component of the conference, the Control Experiment explored the theme through artistic and experimental formats, bridging academic inquiry with creative practice.
Keynote lectures were delivered in Aula Magna, with parallel stream sessions held throughout the Geoscience building. For details on the speakers who presented, see the Speakers page.
The conference program was structured around the theme of Control, inviting participants to examine how notions of regulation, mastery, and constraint operate across literature, science, and the arts. Panels and keynotes addressed topics ranging from cybernetic systems and surveillance to narrative structures of power and the politics of ecological management. What made the program distinctive was its deliberate cross-pollination of disciplinary perspectives: a literary scholar might share a session with a neuroscientist or a media artist, each bringing different methodological tools to bear on questions of autonomy, feedback loops, and systemic boundaries. This interdisciplinary format encouraged attendees to step outside familiar frameworks and consider how control manifests differently—and sometimes similarly—across fields of inquiry, fostering dialogue that continued well beyond the formal sessions into the corridors and cafés of Frescati Campus.
